If you want genuine Honeywell PTM, you have to buy from MODDIY. They ship to India as well : https://www.moddiy.com/products/6061/Honeywell-PTM7950-SP-Super-Highly-Thermally-Conductive-PCM-Pad.html

In my experience they've always been totally fine, they're not experiencing too much wattage even at peak so a cable with even somewhat decent construction will hold up indefinitely. And MODDIY is an awesome source for small obscure parts like that

  3. FriendshipNorth7661

I ordered a custom cable from MODDIY in the PSU space I put 2019 Mac Pro. I've had no problem with the 5080 since it doesn't pull as much power as the 5090. It is going to three of the 8 pin headers on the motherboard. 3x8pin to 12V-2X6 12" long.

Hey there, MODDIY is one of the few places where you can get genuine PTM7950. https://www.moddiy.com/products/6061/Honeywell-PTM7950-SP-Super-Highly-Thermally-Conductive-PCM-Pad.html you need to figure out what size piece you need, or buy a piece that's bigger and cut it to the correct size. Look up tutorials and read up on what you need to do.

Too much and I'd recommend https://www.moddiy.com/products/6061/Honeywell-PTM7950-SP-Super-Highly-Thermally-Conductive-PCM-Pad.html At which point you can cut to size. Though might not work for none CPU/GPU sections. I'm not sure about best options for the other parts.

Man. Im ready to pay 300$ for gpu cable. I dont care. Thats why I bought cable from here: https://www.moddiy.com/products/6374/ATX-3.1-PCIe-5.1-H-12V-2X6-675W-12VHPWR-16-Pin-Power-Cable.html Is stupid to look something else when you have a number one company that doing business even with NASA ! Cable specifically designed for your PSU and GPU ! Is not a generic cable for universal use like others offering.

https://www.moddiy.com/products/Honeywell-PTM7950-SP-Super-Highly-Thermally-Conductive-PCM-Pad.html This one is 100% original PTM7950. Also, pair it with uspiren utp-8 for VRAMs.

  8. corruptnova

Don't from aliexpress, you're asking to get scammed. MODDIY.com is effectively the only verified source of PTM7950. You can also get high quality VRM thermal putty there as well. https://www.moddiy.com/products/6061/Honeywell-PTM7950-SP-Super-Highly-Thermally-Conductive-PCM-Pad.html

I'd get a cable with an angled plug instead of any type of adapter. MODDIY makes them for pretty much every PSU.

    2026-06-07

  10. owelty

the cables are from MODDIY, they can do custom cables for any psu at any length. So nice and even not expensive. Usually ship within 1-2 days as well. I used to get from Cablemod but that is garbage in comparison

    2026-06-05

  11. 2ndHandRocketScience

PTM7950 all the way from MODDIY if it’s available in your region.

    2026-06-05

  12. Resilient_Beast69

MODDIY especially their new cable is amazing. I don’t use a wvp2 but I monitor my astral per pin variance and it’s nearly perfect. They use leaf spring connectors vs the dimple crap.

    2026-06-04

  13. RkyMtnChi

I know you're asking OP but I buy only from MODDIY FWIW

Corsair PSUs come with 2x8 to 12v for higher wattage PSUs, for the RM1000x it comes with a native 12v to 12v as do some shift models. They don’t come with adapters. I use a MODDIY 3x8 to 12v and no issues. I did with my old 4090 also. In fact my per pin variance is nearly completely uniform with this cable vs what came with my PSU.

I got mine from MODDIY, they sent to the UK with no issues.

MODDIY I recommend...I think it's the best cable brand right now. I've been using it with my wireview pro 2 and all pins seem perfect.

MODDIY cables have been great with no issues since its amp draw. Hell this cable showed better results over Corsair and cbalemod

I’m thinking about changing over to MODDIY. You for sure, are not the first person to ever tell me this about their cables. It’s honestly pushing me towards switching to MODDIY.

  24. WonderfulWarning4561

I only use the 0.25mm Honeywell PTM7950 from MODDIY, it's the only legit one I found... the PTM from aliexpress is 0.20mm and IS NOT genuine. I compared MODDIY's PTM with the aliexpress one and the differences were enormous ( 5-8"C) , and yes, the heatsink was properly seated.

    Yes is 12VHPWR → 12VHPWR. ATX 3.1 PCIe 5.1 H++ 12V-2X6 675W 12VHPWR 16 Pin. Custom made specifically for my PSU and GPU. Company: MODDIY. Link: https://www.moddiy.com/products/6374/ATX-3.1-PCIe-5.1-H-12V-2X6-675W-12VHPWR-16-Pin-Power-Cable.html

14900k user with an arctic liquid freezer ii 420 aio stock fans. Applied ptm7950 from MODDIY to the cpu(not delidded) and have a thermalright cpu antibend bracket on(the arctic 2 did not come with its own unlike the liquid 3). Using occt, max temp was 88c. Before the ptm7950 and bracket, I'd hit 100c immediately on max load.

    PTM7950!!!!! MODDIY!!!!!

    2026-05-23

  29. Resilient_Beast69

Exactly why I only use MODDIY cables. People can tell me all day that 3 dimple connectors are the best but I’ve never once had any issues with my 4090 or now my 5090 using MODDIY’s cables that use leaf spring connectors. My per pin variance with this cable and my astral are near perfectly uniform. OEM are cheaply made and suck ass, especially Corsair.

    2026-05-23

  30. AntMiserable6610

I know cables from MODDIY are usually excellent if you want to try them otherwise stuck with stock cables or get a wireview pro to monitor things.

    2026-05-22

  31. Timely-Custard-5722

Beware there are lot of fake sellers on amazon and eBay claiming to sell original Honeywell PTM but they just use the branding of Honeywell. The most trustworthy is this on on MODDIY. https://www.moddiy.com/products/6061/Honeywell-PTM7950-SP-Super-Highly-Thermally-Conductive-PCM-Pad.html

    2026-05-22

  32. owelty

Gracias.

    2026-05-22

  33. lichtspieler

By now, I use only PTM (MODDIY) with my CPU / GPU water blocks. The genuine Honeywell stuff has been lab-tested enough that you know what you get after 3 / 6 / 12+ months of usage.

    2026-05-22

  34. bumbuddi

I have the original model and swapped my cable to a MODDIY and I have been very satisfied with everything.

    2026-05-18

  35. Resilient_Beast69

I have a 5090 astral, and the Corsair cable that came with my HX1200i and HX1500i both showed horrendous performance pin variance. Got Corsair to RMA ONE of them and guess what? Horrible per pin variance. Bought a cable from MODDIY that’s noticeably beefed up and near perfect per pin variance and no issues since launch.

    2026-05-18

  36. Resilient_Beast69

I’ve been saying Corsair cables are poor quality for awhile now. I figured this out when 3 of their cables for my hx1500i and HX1200i had piss poor per pin variance reasons with my astral 5090. Spent $40 on a cable from MODDIY and all has been near perfect.

    2026-05-16

  37. South_Target_9053

I recommend ordering a cable from MODDIY.com. I bought one for my 4080super and it fits snugly with no play in the the copper terminals unlike the ones that came with the GPU and psu were completely opposite.

    2026-05-16

  38. TheSirOcelot

PTM is purchased through MODDIY; they sell the authentic stuff.

    2026-05-16

  39. Westy-07

I’m not sure how much difference it will make, But I ordered the 80x40mm x 0.25mm version on MODDIY, works like a dream

    2026-05-16

  40. Silent_Exit_844

They are very good and cheap. Also use a good thermal past, i sugest also PTM7950 thermal pad and you are good for years (from here, you will get a NO fake ptm7950: https://www.moddiy.com/products/6061/Honeywell-PTM7950-SP-Super-Highly-Thermally-Conductive-PCM-Pad.html

    2026-05-16

  41. tcari394

I run a 5090 with the wireview pro II and a MODDIY cable rated for 675 watts. With the rare exception of transient spikes, everything is working well after replacing 3 failed Corsair cables.

    2026-05-13

  42. Resilient_Beast69

Most be nice. Had 2 RMAs from Corsair and still had crap per pin variance. I got the new MODDIY cable and variance is near uniform across all pins.

    2026-05-10

  43. Electrical-Ad980

    Same,no issues here with MODDIY’s 12vhpwr 2x6 h++ cable 👌

    2026-05-10

  44. Resilient_Beast69

You don’t need that cable. Get one from MODDIY and call it a day. I’ve been using their cable since the launch of the astral 5090 and no issues.

    2026-05-10

  45. rchiwawa

I still have a waterblocked 2080 Ti thats been at 100% loading (folding @ home) that in the 6 years since its been put on PTM 7950 from MODDIY, hasn't shifted temps one iota... with a 9c delta between between Hotspot and core temp, 11c vs water temp the whole time.

    2026-05-06

  46. tcari394

Your second purchase should be a wireview pro 2. That 5090 is serious hazard without constant monitoring. Once I had mine installed, I went through 3 separate corsair cables before I found one (MODDIY) that didn't want to burn down my house.

    2026-05-05

  47. Resilient_Beast69

I use this one for my astral and the per pin variance is great. https://www.moddiy.com/products/6374/ATX-3.1-PCIe-5.1-H-12V-2X6-675W-12VHPWR-16-Pin-Power-Cable.html

    2026-05-02

  48. Shadowdane

I got a MODDIY cable for my 5080 and it's been solid, showing about 5.5A to 6A on all the pins under full load. I'd highly recommend MODDIY if you need an adapter if your PSU isn't native ATX3.1. The old 12VHPWR to 3x8pin cable I bought off Amazon was soo bad with a spread between 1.5A to 8A with wild fluctuations.

    2026-04-24

  49. AntMiserable6610

MODDIY has legit ptm7950 and different sizes. They're a bit cheaper than lttstore. Put it on my 14900k cpu and it dropped my temps at load 10 degrees

    2026-04-24

  50. daveiii

I believe the best place to get ptm7950 is MODDIY: https://www.moddiy.com/products/6061/Honeywell-PTM7950-SP-Super-Highly-Thermally-Conductive-PCM-Pad.html

    2026-04-23

  51. beatool

Not who you asked, but I fried a machine with an adaptor off of Ebay trying to save $10 vs the MODDIY one. Two successful conversions with MODDIY.

    2026-04-21

  52. Automatic_Talk_7794

Don't get this one. Get a MODDIY one they come with the best AWG wiring and a circuit board built in. Anything else will get hot/fire hazard and a MODDIY one will let your PSU turn off with the system. Most adapters won't let the PSU power down.

    2026-04-21

  53. Sibiq

In case you won't find 2.25mm thermal pads, you could always use thermal putty instead. MODDIY sells Tputty 607 and I can personally recommend it.

    2026-04-21

  54. null-interlinked

We have a research lab with hundreds of these things for model training. Currently none have gone up in smoke yet. Even though there are maintenance contracts. If one goes does it woulld take the whole cluster with it since the system obviously would shut down. This would be quite the issue because that whole run needs to be done from scratch again in most cases. But they have been stable for us. The funny thing is, the people that made these racks just bought custom cables at MODDIY in bulk because they used custom casing for better cooling.

    2026-04-19

  55. Resilient_Beast69

I don’t use Corsair 12v cables. My astral says the two that I have suck ass and have piss poor per pin variance vs my near perfect MODDIY cable. Even the cablemod cable is better. Both of my Corsair cables have some connectors that are incredibly uneven so I guess that’s why. One is from a RM1000x and the other from a new HX1200i. With a 5070 you don’t have to worry though.

    2026-04-17

  56. Resilient_Beast69

Props to MODDIY for the survival of my launch 4090 and now my launch 5090. People need to stop using these adapters and low quality OEM cables.

    2026-04-15

  57. hentsubashi

A suggestion: I have a feeling you’re asking this because of the messy story with melting connectors and ATX 3.0/ 3.1. If you’re asking regarding the GPU cables, don’t go for CableMod. Go for MODDIY ones because of the “spring leaf” pin design. Watch JayzTwoCents’s video to understand what I mean: it’s something called like “100 inserts” in the title.

    2026-04-15

  58. tcari394

Absolutely do not buy corsair cables.. even the ones that come with the PSU. My wireview pro 2 has saved my card from 3 stock corsair cables. My imbalance issues went away completely with a MODDIY cable.

    2026-04-13

  59. LetterheadClassic306

got mine from MODDIY and dropped my nitro temps by 15c under load.

    2026-04-10

  61. 2ndHandRocketScience

I'd buy real 7950 from MODDIY if it's available in your region

    2026-04-09

  62. bumbuddi

It's under there rated limit but FYI Asus 12v2x6 are no good. I swapped to a MODDIY cable and have had good balance with no issues with MSI 5090 trio.

    2026-04-09

  63. 2ndHandRocketScience

You can just use thermal paste, but I'd recommend PTM7950, which is a thermal pad that replaces thermal paste. It's got leaps and bounds better performance and longevity, if you can find it. MODDIY is a reputable place to purchase it

    2026-04-06

Corsair cables suck. Get one from MODDIY.

    2026-04-05

  66. 05-nery

The MODDIY will work like a charm

    2026-04-05

  67. null-interlinked

make sure you get the four leaf spring terminal variant since those according to MODDIY are the safe ones. Some dimple variants also have been removed from the ATX spec, suggesting that this was indeed an issue.

    2026-04-06

  68. bumbuddi

Yes you will need the opposite model of the horizontal to have the wires come from behind. I suggest a 90 degree cable for less strain on cable. I bought a custom made one from MODDIY.com.

    2026-04-04

  69. GoodGuyAvii

Get ride of that squid trouble. Go to MODDIY and get proper cable specially designed to ur psu

    2026-04-02

  70. kmkm2op

Try look at a third party like MODDIY, that's where I got my cable when I needed it and it works perfectly.

    2026-03-31

  71. JaviBott

Thanks I almost buy the Corsair one but the MODDIY is way better then.

    2026-03-31

  72. swoy

I have ordered many, many times from MODDIY. Mostly cables of all sorts that are niche or when using their custom cable service. I recommend anyone that order to read their FAQ. Ordering custom cables require due diligence and time. The cables are always to spec, very good quality and mostly made by experts in the field (some cables seem to be machine worked). If you pay premium for postage, you can have anything in stock in about 3-5 days, anywhere in the world. I know people that work in R&D at Google, Intel, Meta, Nvidia and Apple that order i bulk from MODDIY too, they are good suppliers of Shin Etsu/Honeywell thermal compounds for the industry (I wish they would source Halnziye HY-P17 tho).

    2026-03-31

  73. bumbuddi

3.0/5.0 and 3.1/5.1 isn't the issue. The big issue was the pin length on 12vhpwr cable were short and were extended on the 12v2x6 cable. MODDIY cables are good cables I use it myself with the wire view pro 2.

    2026-03-29

  74. GoodGuyAvii

There’s only one company I trust for high end GPU cables ….cables designed specifically for your exact PSU, not some generic stuff. They even make cables for NASA lmao. MODDIY. They use high quality connectors with gold plated pins for better conductivity and reliability. That’s the level you want when you’re running hardware like this. Good luck, brother 🔥

    2026-03-28

  75. bumbuddi

I wouldn't worry about a 5080, it only draws 400w. Just buy a really good cable like MODDIY and you will be ok as long as you insert it in all the way and not remove it all the time.

    2026-03-28

  76. AntMiserable6610

I use ptm7950 on my 14900k ihs and saw a 5-10c drop(depending on application) slightly higher idle temps until it liquifies then 28-32c. Playing Ark survival evolve we're I'd push 75-80c, its staying usually below 70c with a 420mm aio. Got genuine honeywell ptm7950 from MODDIY 40mmx40mm fit perfectly on the chip

    2026-03-27

  77. Resilient_Beast69

Should’ve gotten the MODDIY cable. Much better quality than any stock OEM cable I’ve used for my old 4090 and now my 5090.

    2026-03-25

  78. EffectiveDandy

I encourage everyone to look into PTM7950 PCM pads. They are a thermal shifting compound that makes thermal paste look archaic. Thermal performance is bananas. https://www.moddiy.com/products/6061/Honeywell-PTM7950-SP-Super-Highly-Thermally-Conductive-PCM-Pad.html

    2026-03-25

  79. bumbuddi

I swapped my cable to a MODDIY and it's been good so far. Balanced across all pins and I'm using a MSI trio and haven't noticed the pin 2 and pin 6 imbalance that most MSI cards been having. I never tried with the stock PSU 12v2x6 only because I have the Asus strix 1200p and I've seen posts that cable is faulty so I just bought a new cable so it's done right once.

    2026-03-26

  80. nixaler

Then at this moment, you are golden my friend. Just keep an eye on them and if they start to get crazy, you may want to look at repasting with the PTM7950, just make sure you get the legit stuff. I ordered mine directly from MODDIY.

    2026-03-25

  81. bumbuddi

Finally safe. Wireview pro 2 came in finally, swapped out the 12v2x6 cable with a 90 degree MODDIY one. Undervolted 5090 benching 4k.

    2026-03-25

  82. DBRedHood

My ASUS EVA THOR power supply didn't come with this cable :( But when I do upgrade to a 50 series card I will probably go with MODDIY

    2026-03-14

  83. GoodGuyAvii

Hey bro, just a heads up that cable angle is pretty aggressive and under tension. With these high power 12VHPWR/12v-2x6 connectors, that can affect contact quality and increase resistance over time, especially under load spikes. I’d suggest rerouting it so the cable sits more relaxed, and ideally switching to a dedicated PSU cable designed specifically for your PSU (MODDIY makes solid ones). You’ll get cleaner power delivery and eliminate unnecessary risk. Once the fundamentals are sorted, then it makes sense to add something like a WireView Pro 2 for monitoring but first make sure the connection itself is perfect.

    2026-03-24

  84. YKNN

check MOODDIY, i bought custom psu cables from them and was very satisfied with the quality

    2026-03-22

  85. linkman440

I just installed a new wireview and a new 12v 2x6 cable from MODDIY and average pin delta (difference between high and low pin) while gaming is .6-.7. With random spikes up to 2+ but those are so small and momentary that I’m not worry about it. Even under an 800w load it’s still less than .5 delta. I’m logging all of this through hwinfo and aquasuite with its own graphs on my stats display.

    2026-03-21

  86. bumbuddi

Try MODDIY.com they make the best cables and have a wide variety.

    2026-03-15

I only use ModDIY cables for me, no other brands exist

    2026-03-24

  88. jo_ko_0

I couldn't believe how good the results were. Hot spot dropped around 20°C and the fan speed doesn't go above 50%! This thing is quiet compared to before! I've been running BG3 for the past couple hours and the temps are rock solid at 78°C, 90°C hot spot. Out of curiosity, I set the fan speed to 70% while running BG3. I was getting 58°C and 70° hot spot! I guess it helps when the heat can actually leave the die lol. Since this is PTM7950, I only expect the temps to keep getting better with more heat cycles. Anything that's bare die is getting PTM from now on! Thanks for reading! 0.25mm from MODDIY.

    2026-03-11

  89. Avntusu

Finally here, from MODDIY - presenting PTM7950 pad... On ultra settings at 2K resolution, I’m getting 67 degrees celsius on the CPU and 65 degrees celsius on the GPU while getting a stable 105-115 FPS. This is online, I get about 20-30 extra fps on story mode.

    2026-03-06

You can also get legit 7958 from MODDIY in case people were wondering, I use it on everything now.

Glad to see you guys have a presence on here. Many of us have been praising MODDIY cables for years, especially the 12vhpwr and the new 12v 2x6.

No, they’re not universal and that’s exactly why you need to be careful. MODDIY makes PSU specific cables, so you have to choose the correct pinout for your exact power supply model. Modular PSU cables are not standardized on the PSU side, even if the GPU connector is the same. If you get the correct cable for your MSI A1250GL, it will work perfectly fine. But using the wrong pinout can literally kill your hardware. That’s also why I stick with MODDIY they actually build proper, high-quality cables with correct specs, not generic one fits all stuff.

Do yourself a favor and order a custom cable. The one below is gonna be the best bet. Just order it themed and colored to fit your build. Also be mindful and order the proper length. https://www.moddiy.com/products/6374/ATX-3.1-PCIe-5.1-H-12V-2X6-675W-12VHPWR-16-Pin-Power-Cable.html

I ordered the Honeywell PTM7950 thermal pad off MODDIY. It came in today, got it put in and Holy shit what a difference! When playing games like fortnite now my temps are easily 10 to 12°C cooler (I use a laptop stand to let the fans breathe).

My official Corsair cable melted last year on a 4090. I’m now using MODDIY cables that are cheaper, the quality feels better and you can choose the length to your liking.

I only trust MODDIY at this point to make quality cables. This one specifically https://www.moddiy.com/products/6374/ATX-3.1-PCIe-5.1-H-12V-2X6-675W-12VHPWR-16-Pin-Power-Cable.html

One more thing, for piece of mind on the 12VHPWR cable, since I originally posted this, I also bought a custom 90 angle cable from MODDIY. This way I never have to worry about the bend weakening and hitting the top fan. (or just dont get the thermaltake fan)

50mm x 31mm of Honeywell’s PTM7950 (obtained from MODDIY). For total system performance I used 3DMark TimeSpy and it showed an increase of 5.1% in 3DMark score with 19.6% and 3.0% for both the CPU Score and Graphics Score, respectively. Which is a win in my opinion.

I finally got my 12V2X6 to dual 8 pin PCIE adapter cable today from MODDIY! Anyhow got to say that the connector is of very high quality and well worth it. Almost used a no name adapter I purchased on Amazon but after researching the wiring saw so many red flags that I just wouldn't risk it or use it.
